Temple Trauma: Understanding Head Injury Risks and Protection

I was in the dentist office the other day. To keep my mouth open
wide he monuvered his hand so it rested firmly on the side of
my head, in my temple area. The hand was so firm it was in a
way forceful up against my temple. My queston is head trauma
in that area likely with what had happened? Is the temple just as
protective as the rest of the skull is to the brain? If not, what
makes it not?

Is the temple just as protective as the rest of the skull is to the brain? Yes, except the artery on the outside and inside the skull can rupture with severe blows to the head.
