Understanding Changes in Infant Bowel Movements: Causes & When to Worry

Question
My 14 month old son has started having some odd bowel movements.  Sometimes they have some mucous in them, sometimes not.  Lately he has been having some that smell like vinegar.  He usually has 2-4 BM's per day.  He has just started eating table foods in the last 1-2 months which makes for BM's with all sorts of characteristics, so I though this could be causing it.  Then I considered the OTC meds that his doc prescribed.  He has hayfever type allergies which lead to ear infections, and takes 3/4 tsp Benedryl before his first nap, and before bedtime.  He has been teething lately as well and recieves either 3/4 tsp. Tylenol or Motrin (all children's medicines) once or twice a day PRN.  He seems fine, other than some general crankiness.  He eats, drinks, plays, laughs, runs around, etc.  Slight fever, 100.2 rectally, off and on.  Anyway, so my actual question is: what might cause the vinegar smelling stools, or the random mucous in his stools? Is there anything I can do to help him?

Answer
It is usually from what he eats and drinks, so you need to log this for a few days and it will be clear what is doing this. Usually too much acid foods for the vinegar and too much omega 6 foods for the mucus.
