Wellbutrin and Anxiety: Understanding the Risks & Alternatives

Hello,

My doctor prescribed Wellbutrin as a smoking cessation aid..I've heard that Wellbutrin can cause anxiety attacks..Is this true?  I'v struggled long and hard to keep my anxiety under control (without meds) for the last 5 years and I would hate to have this medication kick start it up again..Soo, if this is true, should I ask my doctor for anxiety meds to take with this?  At this point I'm thinking of weaning myself instead of using this medication..Thanks for your time!

Welbutrin is fairly mild in it's side effects... and it does help with getting off cigs... but if you are real motivated, you can do it without the Welbutrin.... many people have in the past.  I would not be afraid to take it, because if it does cause anxiety, you can simply stop it and it gets out of your system pretty quickly.
