Electrical Shock Injury: Symptoms, Recovery, and Long-Term Effects

Question
i was electricuted a few days ago
i plugged in a cord to an extension cord and it lit up like the night sky , the cord separated from the plug and my hand and arm were black
i now have a strange pins and needles feeling in my arm at all times and alot of pain in my shoulder
the dr gave me a nerve medicine that isnt working
i think its called lycra or lycria , along those lines
i cant sleep the feeling is so over whelming
is this permanant or temporary and how bad was this shock really?

Answer
a few days ago is kind of vague... the damage to the tissue from electrical injuries happens right away, but the process will continue to progress... I would expect that the nerve symptoms you feel will go away within the next 2 weeks, with or without Lyrica, but, if the damage to the tissues was real bad, you will see some physical changes, like swelling of the arms, redness, etc.  If you don't see that, the other symptoms will get better
