Intermittent Abdominal Pain: Possible Causes & When to See a Doctor

Question
I was wondering if appendicitis symptoms can come and go.  I went on webmd and my symptoms seem to be leaning towards appendicitis except I really don't have any change in bowel movement when I experience the pain.  The pain gets worse when I walk or cough and usually lasts about 24 hours and then goes away.  It does not relieve the pain if I have a bowel movement. I don't think that it is triggered by certain foods because I have kept track of when I have the pains.

Answer
yes, there is a syndrome called "chronic appendicitis" where it gets a little inflamed then gets better.... in women, I always worry about urinary tract infections and of ovary problems (cysts, etc) causing pain syndromes that come and go also... the chronic appendix problem is relatively rare and the other problems are very common.
