Persistent Abdominal Pain & Fever: Possible Causes & Next Steps
QuestionI have been having severe, intermittent abdominal pain with a constant fever of 99-101 since March. I have also been having swollen lymph nodes throughout my body since June 06. Since it all started I've had a CT of my neck and abdomen, a colposcopy, a LEEP, a colonscopy and numerous lab tests. The pain is getting worse and worse, and suggestions?
AnswerHi Aly,
Unfortunately there are a host of problems that can cause chronic intermittant abdominal pain. The wide spread lymphnode swelling is a concern. I'll assume that they have eliminated lymphoma, mononucleosis and Crohn's disease. I really don't know where to begin with such a large differntial diagnosis. I'm sorry I don't have a lot to offer.
