Understanding HIV Transmission: Is It Possible Through Skin Contact?

Question
I had to have a "test" done on my legs that basically consisted of the Dr. using what I think was some sort of needle and she touched my legs to see if I could feel it.  I heard her open a package but didn't see anything as I was lying down.  Now I am FREAKED OUT!  I only see one spot on my leg that looks like a poke spot the others where so small they didn't leave marks.  Could I catch AIDS in this fashion?  What if anything should I do?  Thanks.

Answer
Dear Worried,

We are assuming a lot here.  Most likely what happened is the doctor used a "sterile" needle... 15 or 18 gauge to test for "pin-prick sensation"  a part of a neuro exam.  If in fact he/she used a 'sterile' needle then there is no threat of HIV or any other blood borne pathogen transmission.
