Understanding Persistent Headache, Sore Throat, and Fatigue: A Teen's Concern

Question
Hi, I'm 17 and lately i've been having a headache and a sore throat. I've been feverless for the past week. I also get tired suddenly. I've noticed that when i wake up, i feel fine then as the day goes on I start to first get a headache, then a sore throat then a slight neckache. However, sometimes when i eat, I'll feel fine for the next couple hours then the feelings come back again. My mum told me it was because I drink lots of energy drinks. Howver, I still can't explain my sore throat then.  I don't know if my lymph nodes are enlarged.. i mean i can feel all of them slightly; they aren't visable though. I know you can't diagnose me however, can you tell me what this sounds like it could be? Thanks.

Answer
usually strep throat involves a high fever and a bad sore throat.  this could be a simple viral infection that will get better in 1-2 weeks.  Another consideration would be a mono (mononucleosis) infection.  This is viral and doesn't require treatment but may last several weeks.  I don't think the energy drinks have anything to do with it....

Hope this helps... basically, give it another week and things should be better
