QuestionNot sure where to ask this question:
Is it true that if you open a can of food and say, eat half of the contents and then place the open can in the fridge with the food still in it and then eat it later, this can lead to botulism caused by the bacteria or the tin oxide inside the can once the airtight seal is broken?
Just something I have heard and wondered if it was true.
Thanks.
Answerit is the other way around... if there is a very old 'rusted' unopenned can that is bloated with air... it's most likely a can with tons of anaerobic bacterial overgrowth due to the breakdown of food.
once the can is open, the potential for rust is much more dangerous when left outside or inside the fridge. there will be bacteria growing inside the can as well. remember that these canned foods are preserved with different types of preservatives. Foods will rotten overtime... but canned foods rotten faster
