Question
i have a lot of swelling in my knee and some in my leggs i have been tested for arthritis but it was neg. i also have alot of back pain i worked every day since i was 16 now i am 43 and can not work could this be caused by another desease?

Answer
Dear James,   You may NOT have Rheumatoid Arthritis since the blood test came back negative, but you may have Osteoarthritis since only x-rays can really diagnose this degerative disc disease....  Osteoarthritis is caused by cartiledge wear between the joints and can effect the spine, knees and hips....   I suggest that you see an Orthopedic Specialist and get checked for Osteoarthritis....  Unfortunately, there is NOT a lot that can be done for Osteoarthritis, but medication or if it gets too bad, knee replacement...

thank you,   karen
