QuestionHi! I take Excedrin about 5-6 times per week for headaches and other minor aches/pains I may have. I'm 27 and have headaches for the past 5+ years. It was determined that they come from my body being misaligned, but I can't always get to the chiropractor to fix it, so Excedrin is what allows me to get rid of the headaches. The normal dose is two tabs, but I only need one, as that is the dose that helps me. In terms of long term use (I've been using Excedrin for about 3 years), can it damage my liver or do anything to my fertility (hoping to have a second baby in the future) or anything else that I need to worry about or as long as it helps my headaches, I am safe to keep using it. Thanks!
AnswerHi Kellie,
First, I would doubt that your headaches are caused by your body being mis-aligned. Just doesn't sound Kosher to me.
In any event, Excedrin has caffeine, Aspirin and Acetaminophen in it. Aspirin has as many potentially bad side effect as Acetaminophen. There is always potential to do damage to your liver and or kidneys from regular use of these medicines. It's not a guarantee but definitely a risk. If you require this regularly, It's a lot cheaper to get a cup of cofee, take a regular spirin and a generic tylenol [ :-) ] than to spend money on a branded product like Excedrin.
I usually advise people NEVER to take a branded product where a generic is available--you pay way too much for nothing special.
