QuestionHi. I am 28 years old and have a seventeen month old who was born by C section. For the past two months (and beyond) I've been experiencing rather unexplained bleeding and am unable to see a doctor just yet, as I won't be insured until February. I can deal with just about any problem, so long as I know what I'm up against, and was hoping that perhaps you could shed some light on what might be going on with me.
I was given the Depo shot only once, mid July of '06, and against my better judgment. My body reacted badly to it and I bled for six months, then had extremely irregular periods - in fact I believe I only had two after that and both of them lasted at least three weeks apiece. (I've always been irregular, though.) For up to a month before this current bleeding started, I was experiencing a sort of dull pain in my lower right pelvic area, which I ignored, until it became so sharp for about two days that I was having difficulties carrying my daughter on that side. I woke up one morning and was bleeding, but the pain was gone. Now I have no cramping or pain at all, but the bleeding is still constant. I am on no medication, no birth control, I don't even take Tylenol if I can help it, and I avoid chemicals even in my diet. I have nearly every symptom of hypothyroidism, (particularly intolerance to cold) except for the fact that I have lost quite a lot of weight in the past few months, going from about 120 pounds to 105. (I've been losing an average of a pound a week for months, without meaning to.) Ovarian or cervical cancer is obviously a concern, because of the weight loss, but I have also been under an abnormal amount of stress lately, due to a loved one being seriously ill and myself being the designated caregiver. Is it possible to have hypothyroidism but lose weight rather than gain it? Is it possible for this to be caused by a ruptured ovarian cyst? (The pain I experienced in my right side led me to believe that at first, until the bleeding would not quit.) Again, I am really in no pain except for a more recent chest pain that I believe might be caused by the stress of my sick relative and the stress of the bleeding. I am fatigued, which I attribute to the anemia that has arisen from constant bleeding as well. Could this still be the work of Depo? I did read somewhere that it doesn't truly leave your system for well over a year, but I did only have it once. Could mere stress cause constant bleeding? I am having trouble finding any answers just by online browsing because I am hitting contradictions at every turn, what with weight loss rather than gain, and not being in pain or on any medications or BC.
Aside from all of this I have no real history of medical issues, aside from occasional anemia due to a vegetarian diet.
I realize I cannot be given an online diagnosis, but I could use at least a little bit of peace of mind.
Thanks!

wow........this sounds like me,years ago,i bleed for years. it was all due a fibroid.
i feel this could be your problem as well. a fibroid or a cyst on your ovary. stress is the #1 reason for irregular peroids, but i feel your just having uncontrollable bleeding, all of this is not from stress.
with the weight lose, you still should be bleeding like this. theres something else i feel going on.
and you would need to see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
sorry i cant do more.
