STD to STI: Understanding the Terminology Change
QuestionHave they offically changed all things that were once STDs (Sexually transmitted diseases) to SDI (Sexually transmitted Infections)? I don't hear the prior as often anymore.
Answerit is becoming a change in terminology...... mostly because "disease" implies that you have symptoms, and the thought is that many STI's (STD's) don't have symptoms at different phases of their infection, so this terminology is more accurate to describe infections passed through sexual contact that can be re-spread and may not have obvious symptoms (at least for a while)
