Sudden Blackouts & Low Blood Pressure: Causes & What to Do

Question
Hi Dr,
For the past few weeks i have been having trouble with feeling like i am about to black out. Other than really bad allergies this year (worse than the normal for me) nothing else is different. Seems like out of nowhere my blood pressure bottoms out (normally runs low 90/67). If i am in the middle of something (which normally I am) i have to stop whatever i am doing, close my eyes for a sec or two until the world stops spinning and then i am good again. Usually seem to get slightly winded when that happens, like maybe i have forgotten to breath for a few seconds. It feels like if i dont shut down all processes (talking, movement, etc.) that my body will shut me down. Often feels like i am about to drop onto the floor, but i never lose consciousness or fall, in spite of it feeling like that is about to happen. I have also been extra exhausted lately. Do you have any ideas on what may be going on?

Answer
the room spinning sounds like vertigo... if accompanied by hearing loss or ear ringing, let your doctor know.

It could be allergies, sinus stuff now and may get better with treatment... nasal steroids, claritan, etc.

With your other problems with the conn tissue disease/autoimmune stuff, it still is worth mentioning to your physician.
