Persistent Symptoms After Illness & Antibiotics: Seeking Medical Guidance

Question
Hello, I've got a plethora of symptoms and I believe it's a few things happening at once but I'm not sure. I've been sick (flu/strep symptoms) for about 2 and a half weeks now. I went to an urgent care, they treated me for strep even though rapid and culture results were negative. They gave me, and I finished the entire course of, Prednisone and Amoxicillin. I was better for a few days, then went home to stay with my parents for one night, forgot my humidifier, which I had been sleeping with for 2 weeks, and woke up the next morning feeling horrible. All my symptoms came back, this was this past weekend, so yesterday I went to another doctor. Rapid came back negative again for strep, she assumed it was viral and told me to get claritin d, which I did and it has helped immensely.

All that being said, the second thing #possibly related?)that I'm worried about are mysterious bites showing up all over my torso and back. These bites itch for a minute, then as soon as I scratch I realize what it is, I check it, and sure enough theres a little bump. These bumps have been quite flat, unlike regular bug bites, and disappear completely within a day. I was hoping that they were just spider bites, hopefully from my parents house not mine, because they started showing up the day after I slept at their place, but that was nearly a week ago and the bites are still showing up, new ones every day. Yesterday I moved into my uncles house for the weekend to house sit while they went on vacation, new house, new bed, and I am still finding bites today!

I don't know if these two things are related at all but I don't feel like paying to go see another doctor if this is something that will resolve itself. Please help, thanks!

Liz

Answer
I don't see a connection between the two....   it sounds like two separate problems.

You talked about your treatment with antibiotics.... sometimes, sinus infections need a little more...if you have pain, pressure in your face, teeth, sinus', then a decongestant is needed....try some over the counter AFRIN twice a day for 5-7 days.   (Your nose won't get addicted to it if you use it for a week or less)

If you get blood tinged sinus drainage, you may need additional antibiotics.

Watch the rash.... I will bet that will go away and was unrelated.
