Understanding Elevated Triglycerides: A Patient's Case Study

Question
Hello,
I am a female who is 48, 5' 10" and weighs 155 Pds. I have a very bad hip in which I have had 8 surgeries on. 6 in the last 5 years. Do not smoke or drink. My pancreas has decided to stop working. The doctors think it was all the meds and surgeries. So I take enyzemes with my food and I am now a type 1 diabetic. I eat very healthy as I can not excercise much. I had a lipid profile done on 3/26/12
Cholesterol 163.
Triglyceride. 257
Hdl.          76
LDL.          46
They retested me last week on 6/8/12
Cholesterol.   180
Triglyceride.     73
Hdl.          88
LDL.          77
Does high blood sugar cause that much jump in triglyceride levels? I was put on a insulin pump In may. Which seems to keep me under control.
One more question,  I had a tsh test done in June of 2011 which was .7.    They did a tsh level on 3/26/12 and it jumped up to 2.96.   Then they retested it again on 6/8/12 and it was 1.55.  Does diabetes mess with the tsh levels too? I fasted for all the tests. I have not eaten different. What makes the levels jump like that?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Just watch the TSH.... no problem with it jumping around.  That can vary but all are decent. The lipids look great.... no need to mess with cholesterol/trig.

Yes, the DM prob is affecting the trig's a little, but that isn't bad.

Global pancreatic failure is unusual... they are blaming meds?  Anyways.... good luck with everything.
