QuestionI am a 60 yr old female with these symptoms: hoarseness, some difficulty swallowing, difficulty clearing my throat, getting choked easily, and coughing. My paternal grandmother had throat cancer. I will be seen by an ENT doctor in a few weeks, but I would like your take on this.
Answersmoking raises that risk considerably... these easily could be allergies or an upper respiratory infection but I agree, it is worthwhile to have a thorough exam to not miss anything.
Although ENT cancer is a possibility, much more likely is reflux, allergies, or an infection.
If you do smoke, now would be a good time to stop.
