Allergies and Swollen Lymph Nodes: What to Know
QuestionI couple of days ago I went to my doctor due to my allergies. I am allergic to grass. This time of year I always have issues. I get severe itchy eyes, runny nose, constant sneezing...etc. I am not taking Allegra and Alavert. Within 24 hours, I noticed a huge decrease in my symptoms! The only thing that concerned me is that my doc mentioned my lymph nodes under my jaw (one on each side) felt a little swollen. He said that was due to my allergies. I also had my annual check-up that day and all my blood work was normal. Here is my question...
Can allergies really cause swollen lymph nodes? I thought swollen lymph nodes were caused by an infection of disease. My doctor was not the slightest bit concerned, but Dr. Google (haha) has me a little concerned. Now that i have been feeling them I notice that first thing in the morning they feel slightly larger than they do later on in the day (I do wake up with post nasal drip). I do have issues with health anxiety so I tend to freak out over the smallest issue. Any advice and information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Answeryes, allergies can cause reactive lymph nodes, but some people get colds also and it is hard to tell the difference..... sometimes Singulair daily works well for allergies, also, Flonase or other nasal steroids work really well. You can also use a nettie pot twice a day.... saline rinse and that works as well as all our meds and is cheap......
