Understanding Painful Swollen Lymph Nodes: Causes & Next Steps

I have really painful and swollen lymph nodes on the sides of my breasts and in my armpits.  They really hurt and they have been this way for 4 weeks.  I have no other signs of infection.  Could it be cancer?
