Patient Review: Endometriosis Treatment with Dr. Albee - Success Story

Question
Thanks for you quick response!
I plan to give CEC a call tomorrow.  (I already have a copy of my sugery records)
You said that you delt with endo for 25 years before Dr. Albee helped you.
Prior to Dr. Albee's help...I assume you had surgery for the endo?
How long was it after your surgery before you started to have problems with the endo coming back?
I looked at my surgery records tonight from 8 months ago and the Dr. states she preformed lysis for the adhesions and excised the endo.
Is that the same way that Dr. Albee removes the endo...or is the LAPEX different?  I really appreciate your help and it was very encouraging to hear that you have had success and feeling good for a couple of years.  I hope by researching and trying to educate myself on endo....that I can get the best treatment and won't be dealing with recurrance of endo/endometriomas.  Thanks again....Sheri

Answer
Sheri,

As far as I know, there are only 3 places in the US where we can receive LAPEX. It is "laparoscopic excision" of the endo and was explained to me as lasering around the endo implants, then a technique called tenting is done, where Dr. Albee will lift the center and cut it out to the roots. I guess I should tell you the 3 that do this procedure...CEC, of course, Dr. Redwine in Oregon, and Dr. Cook in CA. But, you probably know that from researching.

Yes, I did have surgeries before Dr. Albee's help and I really can't remember ever feeling better after any of them. My first lap, in '92, did help me conceive, only because the dr cleared one of my tubes.  They were blocked from endo. I did Lupron after the surgery, but in no way do I credit Lupron for finally being able to conceive.

I guess you should ask your dr if she studied under any of the 3 drs I mentioned?  I'm not a medical expert, just someone who knows endo from personal experience. I found CEC on the internet and being suspicious, I decided to ask my new OB/GYN his opinion.  As it turned out, he spent 6 months with Dr. Redwine and suggested I go to Atlanta because they were miracle-workers.  (I live in Ohio, so Atlanta was closer than Oregon) He offered to do surgery on me but admitted that he wasn't as skilled as Dr. Albee. That said alot to me, that he was willing to admit that he wasn't a god and could fix me.

I do feel great after two years and I promise you are doing the right thing if you go to Atlanta.

Keep me informed, ok?

Take care,
Kaye
