QuestionHi, I'm 17 and I was diagnosed with endo at the beginning of the year after having lots of pain for a few years beforehand. I was wondering if there is usually any connection between endo and the following symptoms during bleeding; fatique, dizziness and nausea, weakness?
Also, how big of a part do hormones have in endo, the problem itself and its treatment?
AnswerHi Jess
Sorry to hear that you have endo...and oh yes...those symptoms definitely go hand in hand with endo. Speaking from personal experience...I have felt that way all my life. When I was your age (prior to diagnosis), I would vomit every month during my period and it was all day, too. Once they figured out what was wrong, it was then manageable.
And hormones do play a huge role in endo, estrogen is the main player. In my case, I did not produce enough estrogen. Estrogen will feed the progression of endo.
Treatment can be the BC pill or anything hormonal, sometimes surgeries are needed to remove severe endo.
I would make sure that you have a really good doctor...try to go to a specialist, it can make a world of difference.
As an endo woman, it is important you eat well, get rest and exercise. It will make a huge difference in your daily overall being.
I wish you the best and hope you find comfort.
