QuestionI got a spontaneuos endometrio biopsy in My ob/gyn office today, I was given no pain medicine before or after the procedure, I bled heavily during and am still bleeding 8 hrs later and still have pain and cramps, I was told to use ibuprofen but it has not helped, I was left in the office to get dressed and upon getting up, saw all the blood on table pad, and then when I stood up I bled all over My logs and floor I buzzed the Doctor and got a nurse, who then gave me a pad and paper towels to clean Myself up.. I felt that this was cold an inappropriate behavior on the part of My doctor, with no intention to treat Me for pain, before during and after, I am overeacting, and can You please tell Me if there are any risks involved in this procedure.
Thanks!
AnswerHi Cat,
I agree with you about the over all behavior of your gyno and nurse. I have had several biopsy's and don't remember having that much blood, nor having to deal with such a cold office staff. That is very rude, really.
Because we are not doctors and really do not know what happens during a biopsy, the doctor and nurse should have been far more compassionate with you.
I would watch the blood issue, though. You can expect some bleeding but my doctor used to tell me, if I filled more than a pad in an hour, then something was wrong.
I think I was given a mild painkiller afterwards. I also do remember having cramping and bleeding for like a day. Some people clot up better than others.
But I would say, that if you go into more than a second day bleeding, get to a doctor...any heavy bleeding is not normal after that point.
Once you heal from this and get your results, I'd be looking for another gyno...any procedures a woman has is nerve racking...we don't need to add to the list with additional anxiety.
If you get a chance, let me know how you feel. Take care of yourself and stay off your feet.
