QuestionHi, I'm 25 years old and I was diagnosed with endo last December. I just recently finished my zoladex shots and I am now searching for a doctor who will give me answers. My old gynecologist never told me what stage of endo I have and I was just wondering if it's true that endo can get worse with time and that there is no telling if it is unless there is pain? I'm not ready to have children yet but I want to do everything that I can to keep my self healthy so I can conceive when ready.
AnswerDear Pam,
Have you had a lap test yet? Usually, a doctor can tell you at what stage you are with this procedure. Did the Zoladex help? I would think it would...
You do need to find a good doctor that specializes in endo. My doctor is a "high risk/fertility" doctor and usually, these doctors are the ones that know endo symptoms as they relate to stages and conception.
Endo can and will worsen if untreated. Your pain will increase as the severity of endo increases. It can effect all areas, uterus, cervix, ovaries, etc. I recently read where they have researched to find that endo has even entered the lungs.
Endo is such a time consuming disease. For me, I was always waiting for that next period and hoping and praying that the pain was not as bad as the prior month. I was on BC pills for many years, they helped me immensely by leveling out my hormones levels. As a result, I still had endo, but it was a at very manageable stage...I later had to get off the BC pills due to migraines.
I would definitely locate a better doctor.
Try the website: Endometriosis Research Center. I believe they can help you geographically with locating physicians in your area.
I wish you well and good health! Take care of yourself!
