QuestionTwo months ago I had a complete hysterectomy because of repeated problems over many many years with endo. After surgery I seemed to be doing fine until about three days ago, when suddenly the same pain I was experiencing prior to my surgery started up all over again, and in the same place. The only problem is I know it's not my ovaries, because I know longer have ovaries. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? I feel like crying, because I feel like I had this hysterectomy for nothing. I know I didn't because I know the uterus was in bad shape, and I wouldn't have left the ovaries in anyway, but I just figured that major surgery would take care of all my pain....and it didn't. I'm having the SAME pain all over again, in the same place. I'm NOT taking hormone replacement as of yet, because according to my blood work, my body isn't missing the estrogen as of yet and the doctor wanted to make sure we gave the endo as much time as possible to die off. It's been almost 8 weeks since surgery, and the pain is getting worse. Has anyone else had this problem?
AnswerHi Doreen
Sorry to hear you still are having endo problems...but oddly enough,I have had several comments from other women about the same issue.
It seems that these pains will continue off and on with women, like you, who have had a hysterectomy. I have also read articles where researchers are saying that endo can invade other parts of a womans body, like the lungs for example.
But I think, for the most part, your body is just working out the kinks after having estrogen produce an essential function for all these years, now it is gone. But again, everyone reacts differently. I am glad to tell you that alot of the women I talk to usually feel like a million bucks after several months!
Maybe you should try HRT just to get you weaned off hormones gradually...then all together. I swear, endo never goes away.
I would call my doctor if these pains continue, but for the most part, from what I have heard from other women, is it may take a couple of months.
I hope you start to feel better soon!
