Breakthrough Bleeding on Birth Control: What to Do?

Question
I'm on a triphasic pill (I can't remember the name) and instead of taking the inert placebo pills I went straight into the next pack. Now only a few pills into this new pack I have breakthrough bleeding. Is it possible to revert back to the inert pills for a week to get the bleeding over with and then start where I left off in this new pack (the fifth or sixth day of the first week of pills) and not run the possibility of getting pregnant?

Are there any other ways to stop this breathrough bleeding without stopping the pills? It's enough so that I need to wear a pantyliner.

Thank you,
J

Answer
I'm not sure if it would be good for your health to go back and take the pills. This could get your cycle more messed up than ever. You should consult your physician, though, for the answer to your health questions.

I don't recommend the birth control pills or any kind of hormonal birth control. I feel that there are too many side effects and risks because of the hormones.

You do run the possibility of getting pregnant because you did not take the pills correctly. Also, even if you do take all the pills correctly, there is always a chance of pregnancy. Or even a sexually transmitted disease.
