Postpartum Period Return: What to Expect After Childbirth
Questionhi i had a baby nearly 11weeks ago by emergency c section because he got stuck in pelvis area, i had the bleeding after for nearly 7 weeks than 2weeks later i bleed for 3days very lightly. Nothing since than. i have a feeling i could be pregnant again but is that possible and is it too soon after having a baby to have a home pregnancy test? do you have a rough estimate to when I'll get my periods? this is my 1st baby and i don't know what to expect. thank you.

AnswerIt is always possible you could be pregnant again. However, it is also normal for months to go by before your first postpartum period. If you are breastfeeding your baby, you may not see your first period until your baby weans or starts taking significant amounts of solids. You certainly can take a pregnancy test if you suspect you are pregnant. Hormones from a previous pregnancy are no longer detectable by 3-6 weeks postpartum, so you shouldn't get a false positive result on a home test.
