QuestionI'm breastfeeding&i avent got my period back,12wks after child birth,Can i get pregnant if i have sex?
AnswerThe chances of pregnancy while breastfeeding are very low (approximately 2%) if:
*You have not gotten your period yet AND
*You are exclusively breastfeeding (no artificial nipples, little to no pacifier use, no solids,
nursing on demand - no more than 4 hours between nursings during the day and no more than 6 hours at
night with at least 8 to 12 feedings per day) AND
*Your baby is under six months old
Even with that, there is always a small chance of pregnancy because you will ovulate once before you get your first period.
It's important to note that as soon as there is a decline in breastfeeding (due to the baby nursing less frequently or starting solids or bottles) your chance of getting pregnant goes up quite a bit and you probably want to consider other methods of birth control.
