Birth Control & Period Start: What to Expect

Dear Diane,
I started taking birth control this month, I am now to my
"sugar" pills. I took one last night for the first time, I
was just wondering about when is your period supposed to
start? I've been taking the pills at night because they make
me sick so it hasn't been way long since I took the first
pill but I have no idea when it will start.

If you are taking the 28 cycle of pills, you should start your period while taking the "sugar" pills. So did that happen? I'm sorry to hear that the pills make you sick. I would not recommend hormonal birth control at all. There are some side effects and risks, such as you mention. Can you consider abstinence or some other birth control method if you need it?
