Delayed Period: Understanding Causes & Safe Regulation Options

Question
Hi, I haven't had my period since January. I went to the gyno in May for an exam, and everything came back normal. The doctor gave me a prescription for birth control in case I got my period. I haven't gotten it still, but can I begin taking it to make my period come back? Is that safe? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Ashlee,

Thanks for your question. I don't recommend getting on birth control to regulate your period. What does your doctor say as to why you aren't having a period. That needs to be solved. I don't recommend hormonal birth control because of risks to your health and side effects. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com so we can talk more.
