Birth Control and Period: Preventing Pregnancy & Starting the Pill
QuestionHi,
I'm 22 and i'm a virgin and i've been with my boyfriend for 9 months. He's a virgin as well. Anyway we are going away next weekend for his birthday and i plan on having our first time then. Problem is, that is approximately the time when i will be having my period. Can i start the birthcontrol now so it can be avoided? is it okay to start even though i'm on my 3rd week? Please get back to me asap..i'd like to start the pill tomorrow or as soon as possible!
Thanks!
AnswerStarting the pill will not guarentee that you won't have a period. During the first three months of being on the pill, your period will be varied. I suggest that you start the pill though. If you still have your period, look into using a product called "Instead". While it DOES NOT prevent pregnancy or STDs, it can work to make sex during your period less messy. Check out their website. I have used this product before to have sex during my period and it works well.
