QuestionIf I was off birth control for about 5 weeks and then was put back on it, how long should we wait until we can have sex again without a condom and not worry? The day I was put back on it I was on my period so shouldn't we have some time? Also, a friend just switched pills but was never off birth control, should they be worried and careful?
AnswerThe information you are asking for is in the little pamphlet that came with your pills. I don't know what brand you're on but for most pills these are the rules:
- start day one of period: safe from day one
- start day two to seven: safe after taking the pill for a week.
As for your friend, she can start directly on a new pack without worrying about getting pregnant.
