Birth Control Effectiveness: Protection on the First Day of a New Pack

I was wondering if birth control was effective the very first day you start a new pack after taking the placebo pills and finishing the pill pack from the previous month.  I wasn't sure if you were supposed to wait for your hormonal levels to rise again or if you are still protected.

As long as you haven't missed any pills, the pill's synthetic hormones are kept in your system at a steady level and continue to be effective. So don't worry, you are still protected as long as you've been staying on schedule.
