Irregular Periods After Birth Control: What to Do?

Question
I started taking Loestrin 24FE a few months ago, after not taking any pills for about 6 months. I completed the first two months taking it every day, but was getting my period on average 12-17 days each month. When I started the 3rd month, I started my period again, about 2 weeks before I was supposed to get it. So I stopped taking them altogether, about 12 days into the pack's cycle. I bled 2 days on the pill and 3 days after going off of it. 4 days after stopping the pill, my boyfriend and I had sex with a condom and it broke. I had stopped bleeding that same day. Should I be worried about being pregnant?

Answer
Hi Katie,

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical doctor so I advise you to see your physician. I do think it is possible that you could be pregnant. You can get pregnant even if everything is 100% perfect. You have several factors such as stopping taking the pills, having sex with a condom or broken condom. You can get a free pregnancy test from this website http://www.optionline.org
Hope this helps and I would love for you to email me so I can find out what happens in your situation. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
