Birth Control Effectiveness: What Happens After a Late Pack?

Question
Hi my name is Wendi,
I started my birth control packet late, well 4 days late.  I skipped those missed and picked up where I should be.  Now that I have missed those days in the beginning of my cycle would and will there be a possibiliy that I could get pregnant? I did have sex (with my husband) last night and I am counting in my head and I am at 14 days yesterday.  Please answer this question for me.  My concern is that my husband is on a medication that the Dr. recommends you do not get pregnant on.  He was diagnosed with RA and it frightens me to even think I might be.  But, please be honest with me
Thank you for you time.
Wendi

Answer
i cannot give a 100% accurate answer here as you might know. judging by your description, since you missed the 1st 4 pills of your packet, if you had unprotected sex during those 4 days as well as during the rest of this cycle, you have a pregnancy risk.

if it has been over 7 days since you had unprotected sex, take a home pregnancy test or see your doctor.

and remember to use a condom for the rest of this cycle to be safe.

(you should backup my answer with the instructions for your particular pill brand)
