Managing PMS & Exercise-Induced Period Changes: A Guide

Question
Hello,

I have found in the last 4-5 months that my period has become more erratic due to a high level of exercise (increasing my cycling from 60 miles a week to 125-165 miles a week in that time).  This I expected as I know this can happen.  I am in my early 30's.

However,  currently I am stressed at work & my PMT has gone from normally being minor to being quite severe in the week or two before my period.  I am NOT currently on the pill and I would like to know if taking the pill (which I have done previously) might help "even things out"  for me hormonally, ie. help reduce the mood swings?

Thanks for your time :-)

Answer
Hi Helen,

I'm not a doctor so please consult with your own physician. However, I don't ever recommend the pill or any kind of hormonal birth control methods. So no, I wouldn't recommend. I wonder if your period would become more regular when you stopped the pills and let your natural cycle return. Let me know what happens. YOu can email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and hope to hear from you soon.
