QuestionI am 18 and quiet a sporty person and a period for me is just a waste of time, and a pain that I don't need,as i NEVER want to or will get pregnant. I tend to get mine irregularly which I believe is due to being very active at some times. But I wish these times when I don't have my period(so far lasting between months and around a year) would last forever, I find them great, though I know this isn't really a good sign, and isn't healthy. But I always eventually get my period back when I aren't doing as much exercise.
I am fully set on adopting no matter what; I believe there are too many people in need of help in the world, and far too many people in the world anyway, and i'm sure i NEVER want to be pregnant.
So, all I want to know is, is there a safe way to never get your period if you are 1OO% sure that you NEVER want to be pregnant?
AnswerThe only way to never get your period is to have a hysterectomy. I doubt that anyone will do a hysterectomy on you because of your age. Too many women at age 18 or 22 were certain they never wanted to get pregnant and later changed their minds. You might be able to avoid most periods using birth control pills. Depo Provera shots will usually cause periods to stop, but can cause irregular bleeding for 3-6 months before they stop. You're correct that it isn't really healthy for you now to go long periods without a period, because sometimes that means that the uterine lining is building up too much, which can lead to precancerous changes. I think your best bet would be to use birth control pills and try to avoid periods by taking the active pills every day.
