Depo Shot and Weight Gain: Alternatives & Concerns

I've been taking the depo shot for a few years and was wondering if there was any way around or against the extreme weight gain i've experienced. I lost quite a bit of weight when i wasn't taking the shot, but i don't need any more children right now. i'm only 21.

Dear Amy,

I wouldn't recommend the depo shot for exactly this reason and other side effects that I have heard about. Could you find another birth control method that is not hormonal? Do you really need to be on birth control at this time? Write me at CHERYL51@aol.com so we can talk more.
