QuestionI recently was on depo for 3 years and stopped. My last shot was March 31st of this year.I started Yaz on October 17 to restart my cycle, I am now on the inactive pills and no cycle. Is this normal?Per my MD my cycle should restart.Could I be pregnant?
AnswerHi Mercedes,
Have you had unprotected sex between the end of June (when your last shot would have no longer been effective) and October 17? If so, then yes, there is a chance you are pregnant. I suggest you take a pregnancy test to be sure.
However, even if you did have sex, you may not be pregnant. It takes several months for ovulation to return after stopping depo. It can also take several months for your period to return. In addition, birth control pills can cause you to skip a period or even stop periods as well. Since it has only been about 5 months since your last shot would have worn out and you have also started the pill, I think what is happening is likely a normal reaction to your body readjusting. I still recommend taking a pregnancy test if you did have sex to help ease your mind. If it is negative, give your body a few more months to adjust to being on a new form of birth control.
I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
