Birth Control Pill Start: Safety & Concerns - What to Know

Question
I started my birth control pills randomly, about 2 or 3 weeks after my period.  I'm not sure why, but I didn't read the instructions until AFTER I took my first pill but decided to just keep on going.  I since then have had my period (the last week of my tray of pills, my period started on pink pills and lasted 8 days, so 4 pink pills and 4 white pills.)  I just started a second tray of pills yesterday.  Is it safe to have sex without condoms yet?

Answer
You might want to use a second method of birth control for some time.
Although, even if you use birth control methods, there is no method that is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy except abstinence. Do you need to take birth control right now in this time of your life? Also, birth control pills and/or condoms do not prevent Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Have you had any side effects from the birth control pills? If you need any further help, you can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and I will answer as soon as I can.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
