Understanding Twin Embryos & Potential Risks: A Pregnancy Concern
QuestionI am 5 feet tall with a small built and was ok to give birth normally to a 6pound baby via normal delivery. After 4 years we have planned on having our second child and was happy to find out that it did happen. However, we found out that there are two embryos and that there is hemorrhaging in the uterus. the two share a sac. With my small physique I am quite positive I cannot carry two potential babies to full term, they might have complications too or long term defects and I am very afraid to have complications myself and having the possibility of dying. I am very scared and I'm considering abortion. Am I right to assume all these things? How can I tell that to my gynecologist. We are in the Philippines and as far as I know it is illegal to terminate pregnancies here. there is no abortion pill or any less invasive abortion method here either. Can I fly overseas in any other Asian countries which will not need me to be a citizen before they can perform the termination?
AnswerHi Cate :)
The best thing to do is to talk with your doctor about your worries. You don't necessarily have to mention terminating, but knowing the risks is a good idea.
It'd be best to get a vacuum aspiration or D&C. If this pregnancy would put your life at risk, however, you might be able top get the procedure performed at home. Check things out with your doctor. The procedure is legal upon request in Vietnam, I just can't find any info on whether you need to be a citizen or not. Let me know if you need more info!
