Menstruation After Abortion: What to Expect & Birth Control

I just got my actual period for the first time after my abortion.  It arrived right on time, but I was wondering if I should expect this menstruation to be any different from my normal one.  And I'm also starting my birth control pills today and I was wondering if I have to use 2 types of birth control.  Do you know when my ovulation cycle will get back to normal?

Thanks for your question. I am not a medical doctor so of course, I recommend that you check with your physician. But I will try to answer your question. Did they recommend anything after you had your abortion? The birth control pill is not 100% safe and there is a possibility that you could become pregnant on it. Some of the other kinds of birth control methods I do not recommend because of the side effects and risks to your body. I would not expect your period to be any different than a normal one unless you have experienced something out of the ordinary from your abortion. Please let me know how it works out. I would say that your regular ovulation cycle should be straightened out soon. Email me or ask a follow-up question.
