QuestionQUESTION: HI! I had an therapeutic abortion on the 1st of october in INDIA.I was bleeding till the 8-9 the of october.I saw the embryo pass through. after the bleeding i kept on having some brownish discharge which was NOT foul smelling.My periods came on the 29 th of october and are still going on but they are very scanty.I usually have a 6 day duration of bleeding.IS there something to be scared about.I came to Canada 20 days back.and its cold here.does that have to do something with this?
Kindly advice I am scared

It all sounds normal to me. Sometimes after an abortion your periods can be all over the place and it can take awhile for things to go back to normal. I am not sure about the cold weather affecting it but it really does sound like you have nothing to worry about.
The only time I would be concerned is if you had a fever, bad pains and felt really unwell as that could indicate an infection.
If it would reassure you maybe visit the doctor just to put your mind at ease but it all sounds normal.

I had asked you a question about abortion before.Thanks for ur reply at that time.Well after few days the bleeding subsided but again at 16 November started again normal menstrual bleeding for 6 days.After that there was little bloody discharge,but today I noticed a single sample clot.And the discharge is a bit sour smelling.Is something very wrong with me.Please help.very scared.The doctors appointment is 3 weeks away.
AnswerHi Beena and sorry for the late reply, I actually asked a Doctor friend about your question so it took awhile for him to get back to me!!
The discharge sounds normal but if it smells really bad you could have a very small infection and may need some antibiotics.
Wait a couple days and if you still have bad smelling discharge go to your doctor and check if you could get antibiotics.
The clot is also normal as long as it is not lots of clots and heavy bleeding, it most likely is your body getting rid of anything left over.
