Post-Abortion Recovery: What to Expect After a Medical Abortion

Question
Hello! I had a medical abortion January 14th. The ultrasound I had done showed that I was 7W5D. I took the first pill & that night inserted the remainder of the pills. About 3-4 hours later...passed the pregnancy. (this was a Friday) Monday morning I went in to have a ultrasound to see if i had for sure passed it,intact I did. They told me I did NOT need to come in for my 2 week check-up, and also instructed me to not have anything in my vagina for 2 weeks. No baths,no sex, nothing. After the 2 weeks was up I had protected sex,and the condom split.  I didn't think that much about it because I was bleeding. Now a little over 6 weeks later I'm STILL bleeding. Never stopped more than a hour tops. It got really light for about a week or two then started back up again. Today I started passing quarter sized clots again and bleeding very heavy (bled through a tampon in a hour). I called the clinic 2 weeks ago for being worried about still bleeding and all they say is I'm fine as long as I'm not soaking a maxi pad in a hour, which seems odd to me. You'd think It would slow down and stop, not do this rollercoaster stuff. I guess What I'm asking is do you think Somethings wrong? & what do you think my chances of being pregnant again are even though im still bleeding? ( being pregnant again would be such a blessing, the abortion was a HUGE mistake) Thank you!:)

Answer
Hi Stephani,

I hope you are ok now. I am so sorry I was not able to get your question until now. I would have been concerned about your bleeding. So I hope that they were able to help you. If you are still bleeding, please seek medical help elsewhere. Yes, the bleeding could be dangerous. You could get anemia or other health problems.
