QuestionGood Afternoon,
I had an abortion on Oct 25... three weeks after I had unprotected sex and took Plan B the morning after. I went to get a blood exam and it shows positive..Can this be from the previous pregnancy or an new pregnancy.
Please help.
Thanks
AnswerHi, Danielle,
You haven't really given me enough information. What kind of abortion did you have? Do you have any other signs of pregnancy? How far along were you? Were you having other symptoms before?
You're playing with fire. First, you had an abortion. Abortions are dangerous. Sometimes, the damage doesn't show up right away. And then you took Plan B. That is a powerful dose of hormones, and it will tend to upset the delicate hormonal balance of your body. After that, hormonally speaking, anything is possible.
At least you're not under the illusion that you had safe sex. Condoms are notoriously unreliable. If you use one just once or a couple of times, you might be lucky. But people rarely use them just once. The other problem is that condoms do not protect from sexually transmitted disease, including HIV.
I recommend you learn how to tell when you are fertile. You can learn about it here:
http://fertilityuk.org/
That way, you would have one piece of information you don't have now: whether or not you were fertile on the day you had unprotected sex.
Ultimately, you will either have to wait and see, or have the doctor check you out further. Nobody can diagnose the length of a pregnancy over the internet. Not even a doctor.
If you ARE pregnant now, it would be much safer for you to carry to term. The information that abortion is safer than birth is simply wrong.
Take care of yourself. You deserve better. You don't have to put yourself at risk, and you can find other ways to express affection. Any kind of sex involving penetration carries the risk of disease, including cancer. Stay safe!
