Pregnancy After Abortion: Understanding Risks & Testing

I had a abortion on the 3rd of January and on the 6th of January, I had unprotected sex and he ejaculated inside of me. Is it possible that I am pregnant? I know that pregnancy tests will probably still say positive so how can I find out? What could my doctor do to find out for sure?

We have seen patients get pregnant within the first week of an abortion.  You can ovulate at this time.  You should not be having sex because it increases the risk of infection.  If you do during the first 2 weeks, you should use condoms.  It is very risky.  If you do not want to be pregnant again, you should be more careful.  You will have to wait to see if you miss your period or you can have blood tests done in 4 weeks.  The number should be low.  

You always can use Emergency contraception-- Plan B within 72 hours.  It is too late now.
