QuestionHello. i would really like to knw how long after an abortion by pill is it possible to get preg. and if its possible that its very soon after would the doctor be able to tell its a new preg and not mistake it for the terminated preg being still there? also (sorry) is there any way to tell if the abortion didnt work? thanx you very much for your help
AnswerDear Rebecca,
The best way to know if the abortion pill worked is either: you had pregnancy symptoms before and now you don't; you now have a negative pregnancy test; you have a follow up visit with the doctor who gave you the pill and they either check an ultrasound or a blood test.
It is possible to get pregnant right away after an abortion, but sometimes it can take months. As long as the first pregnancy was terminated the doctor will not mistake the new pregnancy for the original pregnancy. If you were to get pregnant right away, you would be four weeks earlier than the previous pregnancy, and the doctor can tell the difference by exam or by ultrasound.
I hope this answers your question and is helpful,
