Second Abortion & Future Pregnancy: What to Know

Hi Diane,

I am 21 years old and I had an abortion in mid august last year. But a month ago after I got my period, I lost my insurance and couldn't get my birth control pills. I had unprotected sex this month and I am really paranoid that I am pregnant at the moment. I was wondering what are the possible side effects to having a second abortion. Is it less likely that I will get pregnant again in the future?

Thanks for your question. No one can predict the likelihood of you getting pregnant again. I would advise you to not have any more sex in this situation. Also, there are studies which show that "sexually transmitted diseases can get transmitted " even from protected sex.
