Pregnancy After Medication Abortion: Chances & Timeline

Question
Hi, I had an abortion using the pills on March 10th, then I had unprotected sex on the 20th, 21st, and then on the 22nd I think he ejaculated a bit. I didn't want to have an abortion in the first place and it's my biggest regret listening to others, and getting influenced. So, I want to know is it too soon to get pregnant again? I'm not trying to, but I know I  wouldn't have another abortion, that's for sure.

Answer
Hello, Melenie,

By all means, don't have another abortion in the future! It really IS your decision. Other people may be well meaning (or not), but they often don't understand what they are recommending.

You really should stop having sex, too. Pulling out doesn't work. Neither does "protection", by the way. You really deserve better.

As far as getting pregnant again is concerned, it might not be the best thing in the world if it happened, but the alternative is far worse. You weren't likely to be fertile yet, but you really should stop taking chances.

Please be aware that you are at risk of getting breast cancer, while you are still young. The type of breast cancer kills 1/4 of its victims. So you need to be vigilant. Don't have mammograms. They can spread the cancer. See if you can find someone who will give you periodic thermograms. There are ways to decrease your chance of getting breast cancer. One is to make sure you have enough Vitamin D3 in your body. There is more information about this at this site:

http://drmercola.com/

If you take supplements, you will need to have your blood checked to make sure you don't have too much in your system. There are also herbs and other things you can take that will help.

If you need to talk to someone about your regrets, please know I am here. There are also organizations that can help with this. You can find local counseling (from women who have experienced abortion) by going here:

http://www.pregnancycenters.org/

There will be an organization in your area. They also help with women who are faced with difficulties as the result of pregnancy.

And there is this web site for women who regret their abortion:

Finally, please have a doctor check you for possible infection or diseases. This kind of sexual activity and the abortion itself both make you susceptible.

Please take care of yourself and stay safe! Let me know how you do.
