QuestionI am trying to get pregnant again after an abortion at 7 weeks, four weeks ago.I had two blood tests yesterday to check for hcg levels. The first one, taken at about 10.30 am was aparantly negative but the one taken later on at about 2 pm measured 9.Could I be pregnant again?
AnswerDear Samantha,
It appears that you may very well be pregnant again. Although an hcg level of 9 is below the level of pregnancy, it is encouraging that the results are trending up, from a "negative" to a "9", in just a few hours. According to some sources, if your hcg levels double within 48 hours, that is a positive sign of pregnancy.
When is your next test scheduled? Some doctors consider a "20" or higher to be a positive pregnancy result. Ask your doctor what level he/she considers to be positive.

You should not have any problem getting pregnant after an abortion.
