Post-Abortion Odor: What to Expect & When to Worry

Question
Hi, I had the medical abortion on 13th january-14th january and immeadietly began bleeding, vomiting and experiencing severe cramps which were all normal signs. I have been bleeding quite heavily constantly but in the last couple of days have noticed that the blood has become brownish colour and gives off a really bad odour. I was given a pregnancy test to take after 3 weeks but was not advised for a checkup appointment. Is this odour normal after nearly 2 weeks and when should the bleeding stop all together?

Answer
Hello, Hannah,

How far along were you when you took the pills? Are you counting from your last menstrual period, or from the day you think you conceived?

There is nothing normal about having an abortion. You can say that bleeding and experiencing severe cramps are the usual signs. Not all women vomit, but if they do, I consider it a good sign. The pills are toxic, and vomiting may mean that the woman's body will throw off the poison before her body is significantly harmed. Heavy bleeding is very bad for a woman's body. Women actually die from bleeding too much.

No, the odor is not normal, and I don't know how many women report a bad odor after a pill abortion. The possibility is that you have tissue that has become infected. That's why you should go see a doctor immediately. Don't go to anyone who does abortions, or who provided you with the pills. They cannot be trusted. Abortion is bad medicine, and people who would do that to a woman don't have her medical well-being in mind. Find someone else. You need to be checked for infection. Telling me how far along you were will also help me to know what the likelihood is that you actually succeeded in aborting, or whether it is unlikely, and followup care will be essential to preserve your life and health.

Did you take any pills in the vagina? If so, the doctor needs to check you for Clostridium sordellii. If you have it, he should start immediate aggressive life-saving measures.

From what you said, it sounds like the most likely thing is an infection, and that can be serious. So please get immediate attention.

As for when you will stop bleeding, there is no "should" about it. Women are individuals, and the amount of bleeding depends on how far along the woman was and a bunch of other factors. Expect to bleed without warning, so be prepared. You will be at risk for bleeding for weeks after a pill abortion. Be prepared for the possibility of hemorrhage as well. To safeguard your life, I recommend you get some cayenne into your body. You can either eat foods that have red hot peppers in them, or take cayenne as a supplement. If the bleeding is too heavy, the doctor may also want to take additional measures.

So you need to go immediately to a new doctor, and do whatever he recommends. I hope things will turn out all right for you. Please keep me informed about how things are going, and please take care of yourself. Don't take any more poisonous pills. You deserve better.
